About DigitalMPS and the challenge

DigitalMPS (Digital Managed Print Services) is a forward-thinking UK company that delivers quality document solutions to meet any organisation’s demands for growth, scalability and reliability. As such, the visual identity needed to convey the message that this is a professional company with sophisticated and high-end solutions to today’s challenges that businesses face.

As a service partner to Kyocera and Konica Minolta, it was important that the branding also communicated the thorough print services offered by the company related to these two brands.

Logo design

The entire branding needed to be cohesive across both print and digital assets, ensuring visual consistency and distinction were intertwined together.

So, I set off sketching out multiple variations and ideas for the DigitalMPS brandmark. I started with sharp and clearly defined geometric shapes. These have gradually morphed to be under an angle and in close proximity to one another.

As a company whose main services are related to the print industry, it was almost inevitable utilising the colours used in offset printing (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). While showing forward movement, the square shapes in the logo were formed to symbolise pieces of paper. Slight gradient was applied to add depth and result in a more modern approach. These same visual elements and colours are used throughout the website and the other marketing collateral.

Marketing collateral

Next step was applying the branding onto the other sets of marketing collateral. This included business cards, letterhead, brochures and other.

To ensure consistency, the same colours were used throughout, as well as utilising the shapes from the logo to create patterns and other visual elements. This resulted in an elegant looking visual identity, easily recognisable and representative of the solutions and expertise offered by DigitalMPS.

Web design

To better visualise the breadth of the website, I created a sitemap and consulted the client on how the process flow would look like. This is highly effective in documenting all the related pages and how the site is structured, and gives a clear overview of the complexity of the digital product.

Basic wireframes were also created in order to understand how we set the layout and present the content on the pages. As some of the pages contained products, we also had to include breadcrumbs to offer easy navigation and better understanding of where the user is located on the website.

The visual elements of the brand were applied throughout the web design, with mobile optimisation in mind. The DigitalMPS home page features a slider showcasing the solutions offered by the company, with visual distinction between each by using each of the brand colours in combination with imagery.
